Sons Of The East released their album Palomar Parade on September 23rd. It’s high time we send it to our Reviewer On Duty Bas to hear his opinion….:
“Where should one turn to, when one is not quite ready yet for Autumn’s cold and rainy spell? When the windscreen wipers can only barely overcome the relentless drizzle and the yearning for long drives through warm balmy evenings simply becomes too much to bear..?
Exactly: the other hemisphere. With Spring coming around there, The Sons of the East cast some much-needed Australian sunshine upon us Northerners through their latest album ‘Palomar Parade’.
Since their start in 2011, the Sydney-based indie-folk trio have released three EPs and a rather impressive list of singles. Over the years, they have gathered quite an online following, racking up millions of streams. On their first full-scale album, The Sons now present 12 finely-crafted song, comprising 44 minutes of music.
The musical style on Palomar Parade would be somewhat hard to define, ranging from a JJ Cale-like opener ‘Hard Playing Hard To Get’, through poppy ‘You might Think’, soulful ’Not All My Fault’ and the California sunset-ballad ’Tail Lights’. All twelve songs simply work, with pleasantly warming close-knit harmonies as the Sons’ of the East core quality.
Just another six months till Spring here, hang on mate!”
If you missed Sons Of The East European tour, that has just ended, keep your eye on their social media channels this winter, for we’re told they might be back this spring or summer. Hopefully bringing the sun back with them…
